Liam’s Story

Liam* was referred to Nest as he has been a victim of harassment. He had withdrawn from going out with friends and attending college and was spending most of his time in his room.

Since his referral, we have been able to help Liam in a number of ways to become more independent and self-confident.

Through Nest, Liam took part in Lancashire Mind’s ‘Get Set to Go’ project, which provides access to sports and physical activity. He has also taken part in an Enterprise Project and has been working with Connexions to explore avenues to get him into further education.

Liam has begun to spend more time outside with his friends and has travelled on public transport to Manchester, something he would never have done at the start of our work.

We continue to work together to explore the different avenues Liam could take to improve his confidence and self-esteem.

Liam is taking some good steps forward with the help of his Nest support worker and through communication with other support organisations and his family.

He has recently turned 18 and there have been some added complications with the introduction of some negative influences to his life and bullying online which has been difficult for him.

Liam and his family are in regular contact with Nest to support him through these challenges. We will be here for Liam for as long as he needs us.
